Week 5: Medina's Got Talent!

What an exciting week at Country Life Kid's camp as our campers showed off their talents and unique skills. The campers were challenged to believe in their abilities and be confident in their performances. From building on our confidence, learning to calm our fears, and develop stronger physical and mental traits, our kiddos shined bright this week.

This week we focused on our mind and heart, recognizing our circle of control. Campers learned about things that are in our control and things that are out of our control. We discussed that coping skills help us through difficult situations that are out of our control. One way to help us is by using sensory tools. We made sensory bottles to use when we're feeling the stressors of life.

Animals and pets are great ways for us to feel less stressed. Petting our ducks is always enjoyable for our campers.

It was a great week for our huge water slide as campers went racing down the hill getting cooled off from the summer heat.

During our Gardening session, we had an exploration with worm bins and learned about their purpose to help indoor and outdoor plants.

During the Art Sessions, campers created their own friendship bracelets by adding their names, favorite bands, etc. to make it unique.

Campers also made their very own stars to be added to their Wall of Fame.

In our Instructional Sports Fitness Track, the sport of the week was basketball. Our athletes were challenged on their fundamental skills at higher levels of performance focusing on court awareness, mental toughness, work ethic, and attitude.

Coach Ben led the instruction of team offensive and defensive fundamental strategies such as moving without the ball, pick and roll execution, screening, pressing, fast break, switching defenses, post play, and perimeter play.

Our instructors led our young athletes through agility training focused on specific basketball movements to develop quickness and balance.

Congratulations to our winners of the three vs. three basketball tournaments.

We made Lego trophies for our top Talent Performers who were participating in the "My Camp's Got Talent Show."

The special event was "My Camp's Got Talent Show" and our campers were extraordinary. From singing, acting, playing music, displaying artwork...to martial arts, science projects, ventriloquism, magic....and everything in between....the talent each and every performer displayed was Hollywood-esque.
