Week 7: Developing Detectives

This week, Country Life Kids Camp turned into a CSI academy training center, as our young campers learned how to become detectives by working together as a team and uncovering clues to solve the case.

Our young detectives investigated clues to solve silly crimes committed by fairytale creatures and our counselors. They delved into fingerprinting, impression/trace evidence, and chemistry to unravel the clues.

During the Mystery Lab, campers worked on analyzing and molding different types of tracks.

The Cooperative Games helped hone the campers CSI skills with interactive training games such as Band-Aid Tag, Beaker Drip Drip Splash Fun, Spy Glass Pass, Mug Shot Peek-A-Who, Detective Radar and Who's Missing?

During Spy Glass Pass, campers had to work with their team to pass the hula hoop all the way around the circle without taking their hands a part. Beaker Drip Drip Splash Fun is similar to Duck, Duck, Goose but with water!

Campers learned finger printing and processing impression evidence, just like the real authorities have to do.

The Instructional Sports Camp focused this week on developing the complete athlete through progressive skill sets and advanced sport disciplines utilizing games and athletic contests.

Campers participated in the Invasion Games.

Such games and contests comprised of rugby, a World Series Challenge comprised of speedball and fielding games.

Our young athletes also learned the value of agility training.

During Art class, the campers drew trunks of trees and fingerprinted their friends. The fingerprints became the leaves on the tree. Campers also created their own harmonicas.

Campers learned about aquaponics and also were able to fish. Look at the size of that fish!

We went out exploring, looking for fossils in the creek. The campers caught a giant crawfish, yikes!

It wouldn't be summer camp without some water fun to keep cool.

Campers learned all week the skills to investigate and navigate clues, lab and field skills, and how to determine conclusions. They worked in teams to solve the case at hand.

We are thrilled to share the exciting results of our summer gardening contest at Country Life Kids Camp! This year, our campers who joined us on our Instructional Sports Fitness Track had the unique opportunity to develop their green thumbs and leadership skills through this engaging and educational activity.

Throughout the summer, individual Team Leaders were selected, based on age and camp experience to mentor their groups. These leaders chose garden locations, selected individual plants, and learned essential management skills to guide their teams in planting and maintaining their gardens. The dedication and teamwork displayed by all the campers were truly inspiring.

After weeks of hard work and nurturing their gardens, the campers cast their votes to determine the best garden. We are delighted to announce that the winning team is the Swamp Donkeys, led by the enthusiastic Monty, with team members Jace, Charlie, and Jack. Congratulations to Monty and his team for their outstanding effort and creativity!

We hope that this experience has instilled a love of gardening in all our campers and that they carry these skills and memories with them.

Thank you for your continued support in making Country Life Kids Camp a place where children can grow, learn, and thrive!
