Week 8: Magical Adventures

This week, our campers went on a magical journey through timeless novels of Wizard of Oz and Treasure Island. They participated in engaging STEM challenges, weather investigations, treasure hunts, chemistry experiments, and slime fun, creating a wonderful week of hands-on fun in our Young Naturalist, Mystery Lab, and Team Building programs.

During our Teambuilding sessions, groups had to build a boat out of straws and duct tape.

The boats had to pass the test of holding its passenger (a golf ball) through the stream and float on the lake.

In Art, the campers created floating cork pirate ships, connecting to the theme of Treasure Island.

Also during Art, campers created custom bookmarks to ignite their love for reading and imagination.

During Religion class, we talked about stealing property that doesn't belong to us and how to stand up for what is right even during difficult times. In Coaching Character, the campers discovered their Champion Attitude and learned how to overcome overwhelming life situations striving for excellence.

We definitely weren't in Kansas anymore, as we experimented with tornado tubes while learning about weather.

Our campers created multicolored slime, connecting to the ideas of prisms and rainbows from The Wizard of Oz.

During our Cooperative Games, we unlocked our imagination via team-building exercises such as Polariod, Stand-By Me, Good vs. Evil Tag, and Back Word Ways.

Our Instructional Sports Camp focused on volleyball this week. This was a great opportunity for the athlete who has previously played volleyball to improve and refine their skills prior to the start of the Fall volleyball season. It was also a wonderful opportunity for those who've had limited opportunities with the sport to gain new skills and confidence.

Our athletes mastered the fundamentals, developed proper mechanics, and gained game play experience. Through intense leadership and team development settings, they gained a better understanding of what it takes to improve, achieve, and succeed in an individual or team environment while working to achieve higher performance levels.

As part of the Special Event this week, our campers made unique puppets.

Our young campers are filled with so much imagination and talent; just look at those decorative puppets!

During the Special Event, campers had to learn to navigate their maps and go on a scavenger hunt throughout the campground looking for treasure.

We had a marvelous, adventurous journey this week filled with magic, imagination, teamwork, and self-discovery.
